This thoughtful update caters to the approximately 300 million people worldwide who experience colour blindness. Beyond Colors replaces traditional card colours with distinct shapes such as squares and triangles, making it easier for all players to differentiate between the cards.
Enabling the Beyond Colors feature in Phase 10: World Tour, Skip-Bo Mobile, and UNO! Mobile is simple. Just tap your avatar in the game, go to your account settings, and select the Beyond Colors deck under the card theme options.
Mattel163 worked closely with gamers who have colour blindness to ensure the effectiveness and user-friendliness of these new symbols. This initiative aligns with Mattel’s broader commitment to accessibility, with a goal to make 80% of their games colourblind accessible by 2025.
In developing Beyond Colors, Mattel163 collaborated with experts in colour vision deficiency and the global gaming community. They incorporated solutions like patterns, tactile clues, and symbols to ensure that cards could be distinguished without relying solely on colour.
