Mattel163 Drops Colourblind-Friendly Update ‘Beyond Colors’ In Skip-Bo Mobile, UNO! Mobile And Phase 10: World Tour

Mattel163 is taking a significant step towards inclusivity with an exciting update aimed at making popular card games more accessible to everyone. They are introducing colourblind-friendly decks for UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile through a new feature called Beyond Colors.

What Is Beyond Colors?

This thoughtful update caters to the approximately 300 million people worldwide who experience colour blindness. Beyond Colors replaces traditional card colours with distinct shapes such as squares and triangles, making it easier for all players to differentiate between the cards.

Enabling the Beyond Colors feature in Phase 10: World Tour, Skip-Bo Mobile, and UNO! Mobile is simple. Just tap your avatar in the game, go to your account settings, and select the Beyond Colors deck under the card theme options.

Mattel163 worked closely with gamers who have colour blindness to ensure the effectiveness and user-friendliness of these new symbols. This initiative aligns with Mattel’s broader commitment to accessibility, with a goal to make 80% of their games colourblind accessible by 2025.

In developing Beyond Colors, Mattel163 collaborated with experts in colour vision deficiency and the global gaming community. They incorporated solutions like patterns, tactile clues, and symbols to ensure that cards could be distinguished without relying solely on colour.

The shapes used in Beyond Colors are uniform across Phase 10: World Tour, Skip-Bo Mobile, and UNO! Mobile. This consistency means that once you familiarize yourself with the shapes in one game, you'll easily recognize them in the others. You can find these games on the Google Play Store: UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile.
