Despite being a relatively new game, *Marvel Rivals* has already captured the imaginations of its players, with rumors swirling about potential new additions like a PvE boss fight. However, NetEase recently clarified that they currently have no plans for a full-fledged PvE mode...yet.
At the DICE Summit in Las Vegas, we had the chance to speak with *Marvel Rivals* producer Weicong Wu about the possibility of a PvE mode. Here's what he had to say:
"For now, we don't have any kind of PvE plan, but our development team is continuously experimenting with new gameplay modes. So if we found that a new specific game mode is entertaining enough, fun enough, we would of course bring it to our audience."
Following Wu's statement, Marvel Games executive producer Danny Koo chimed in, asking if I would want a PvE mode in *Marvel Rivals*. I affirmed that I did. Wu elaborated further:
"Yeah, we believe there are some of our audience that would like the PvE mode. But also, you can see that if we come up with a hardcore PvE experience, that will be totally a different distinctive experience from what we have right now. So our development team has been continuously experimenting with different approaches to achieve that goal, maybe a lighter mode, in a lighter sense of that, and to see what would work best for our game."
For now, it seems there are no concrete plans for a PvE mode in *Marvel Rivals*, but Wu hints that NetEase is exploring ideas for a "lighter" game mode, possibly something like a one-off event. NetEase remains tight-lipped about further details.
*Marvel Rivals* continues to evolve, with new characters being added every month and a half. The next heroes set to join the roster are the Human Torch and The Thing, arriving on February 21. We also discussed with Wu and Koo the potential for a *Marvel Rivals* release on the Nintendo Switch 2, which you can read about [ttpp]. Additionally, we addressed the issue of whether NetEase was trolling dataminers with fake hero "leaks" in the game's code.
