Nintendo has revealed that the faster 200cc difficulty mode won't be available at launch for Mario Kart World on Switch 2, but might return through a future update - mirroring how it was introduced in Mario Kart 8.
Will 200cc Return in Mario Kart World?
Speaking to Rolling Stone, producer Kosuke Yabuki confirmed the team recognized the popularity of 200cc mode but stopped short of confirming its return:
"Some players truly appreciate higher difficulty options like this," Yabuki said. "But regarding engine sizes beyond 150cc in Mario Kart World? That's something I can't confirm at this stage."
This staggered approach makes sense for Mario Kart World's multiplayer-focused experience, where players need to sync their speeds to explore together. Allowing time to master 150cc before introducing higher speeds is a thoughtful design choice.
