Pocket Gamer recently discovered Dynabytes' Fantasma at Gamescom Latam—a multiplayer augmented reality (AR) GPS adventure game. This exciting title recently received an update adding Japanese, Korean, Malay, and Portuguese language support, with German, Italian, and Spanish planned for release in the coming months.
But what exactly is Fantasma? Players hunt and battle mischievous creatures by strategically deploying portable electromagnetic fields (think bait, but for paranormal entities!). Combat takes place in augmented reality, requiring players to maneuver their phones to keep the Fantasmas in view and tap the screen to attack. Defeated Fantasmas are then captured in special bottles.
The game utilizes real-world locations, encouraging exploration to find new Fantasmas. Sensors can expand your search radius, and the game supports cooperative play, allowing players to team up for a more social experience.
Fantasma is free-to-play (with in-app purchases) and available now on the App Store and Google Play. Download it today! For more AR game recommendations, check out our list of the best AR games for iOS.
