The long-awaited Heart of Democracy major update for *Helldivers 2* has arrived, bringing the battle to Super Earth with new missions set in Mega Cities. As previously leaked, this update—now available on PC and PlayStation 5—introduces the Illuminate invasion to our home planet, allowing players to join forces with SEAF soldiers to fight back in the city biomes. These operations are crucial for liberating the cities and have a "significant impact on planetary campaigns," as stated by developer Arrowhead Game Studios. This update is a key component of *Helldivers 2*'s ongoing Galactic War, a community-driven meta narrative expertly managed by Arrowhead.

According to the PlayStation Blog, the Helldivers now have a critical new mission: to repel the Illuminate invasion by gaining control over areas where the enemy fleet is landing. This task is described as an "intergalactic tug-of-war," where players will experience rapid gains and losses in territory. Players can activate Planetary Defense Cannons to take down the Illuminate fleet, as demonstrated in the trailer. Additionally, SEAF troops will assist in defending the cities, either fighting independently or following Helldivers to provide temporary support as they advance toward objectives. Players must remain vigilant, however, as civilians are still present in the streets, making friendly fire management as crucial as ever.
The Heart of Democracy update underscores Arrowhead's dedication to the long-term support of *Helldivers 2*, following its record-breaking launch. Addressing concerns about the studio's focus, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani reassured fans that *Helldivers 2* remains the primary focus. "Nah. It's ALL Helldivers 2 for now," he stated, adding that a small team would slowly begin working on "Game 6" later in the year. Jorjani emphasized the importance of player support, saying, "As long as you folks keep playing and buying Super Credits we can keep it going." He credited the community's support for turning around the game's fortunes, ensuring a bright future for *Helldivers 2*.
