Marking its 10th Anniversary, The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) is set to revolutionize gameplay with the introduction of subclassing. Announced during the ESO Direct 2025 on April 10, this feature allows players to mix and match skill lines without the need to create new characters, addressing a long-standing player frustration.

To unlock this feature, players must reach level 50. Once there, they can keep one skill line from their original class and swap out the other two with any of the six other classes available. This system creates over 3000 possible combinations, enabling players to craft their ideal playstyle.

ESO Game Director Rich Lambert expressed confidence in the new system, stating that extensive testing has been conducted, and the team is comfortable with the potential power level increases.

Seasons of the Worm Cult

ZeniMax Online Studios is shifting towards seasonal content, allowing for more experimental releases and better responsiveness to player feedback. Studio Director Matt Firor emphasized, "We want to keep telling great stories, but also mix in new ideas and gameplay systems. We'll do this in a different cadence, which allows us to broaden our focus and increase variety."

The upcoming chapter, Seasons of the Worm Cult, continues the saga from the game’s original Molag Bal storyline. Players will explore the new Isle of Solstice zone and delve into the resurgence of the Worm Cult. Producer Susan Kath mentioned that while Seasons of the Worm Cult will span most of the year, future seasons will typically last 3 to 6 months. Additionally, "remix" seasons will revisit past storylines, with a teased Dark Brotherhood-themed season on the horizon.
