A Kindling Forest: A Solo Developer's Clever Auto-Runner
Dennis Berndtsson, a high school teacher and solo developer, presents his latest creation: A Kindling Forest. This isn't your average action-adventure; it's a side-scrolling auto-runner packed with innovative gameplay mechanics. Expect forests, arrows, and a generous helping of lava!
The Story: A Demon, an Archer, and a Never-Ending Run
An ancient demon terrorizes the world, prompting forest spirits to awaken a long-forgotten archer. Armed with a bow, he's tasked with defeating the demon. But A Kindling Forest isn't about straightforward quests.
Gameplay: Precision and Timing are Key
The screen continuously scrolls, presenting a relentless barrage of sharp, unpredictable obstacles. Players must skillfully dodge or shoot these shards using their arrows—their only lifeline. Running out of arrows means game over, making every shot crucial.
Five levels of escalating chaos await, from leaping over spiders and teleporting through ruins to navigating clouds and dodging lava flows. Checkpoints offer respite, allowing players to restart and refine their strategies.
A unique split-screen design divides the screen for jumping and shooting, emphasizing precise timing. Slow-motion aiming assists in lining up shots.
