Undertale creator Toby Fox has provided an update on the testing phase for Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4. Read on for details on console testing and what to expect.
Deltarune's Console Testing Progressing Smoothly
Save Transfers Coming to the Main Game
Toby Fox, via his Bluesky account, shared that console testing is underway. While much work remains (PS5 testing hasn't even begun!), progress is positive. He noted fewer bugs and confirmed that, in addition to bug fixes, the team is working on implementing save file transfers from Chapters 1 and 2 (the demo) to the full game on consoles. This feature, enabled by recently acquired technology, is highly anticipated. "I hope it works!" Fox added.
With beta testing going well, a release date may be on the horizon. Fox previously confirmed a 2025 release for Chapters 3 and 4.
Fox Teases New Character: Tenna
Amidst the development, Fox shared a humorous anecdote: He showed family and friends a minigame he's working on, which they described as "a cry for help because your game is not out." While his family found it positive, a friend laughed for ten minutes straight.
This sparked speculation that the minigame might be for Chapter 5 (the game is planned for seven chapters). Fox also mentioned a fan's comment, "I miss Tenna," referencing a character unseen in the main game but previously featured in the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign (September 2022) for Child's Play charity. This confirms Tenna's appearance in Chapter 3.
Deltarune, a successor to 2015's Undertale, shares similar mechanics but offers a new story and characters. Players follow Kris, Susie, and Ralsei on a world-saving quest.
