If there's one thing superhero comic publisher DC loves (perhaps a bit too much), it's a grand crisis crossover. Heroes clashing with villains, the fate of the world (or worlds) hanging in the balance, it's always a thrilling showdown featuring many iconic characters. The latest of these epic battles has arrived on iOS and Android with developer FunPlus' DC: Dark Legion.
In DC: Dark Legion, familiar heroes and villains unite to confront the multiversal menace of The Batman Who Laughs, an evil version of Batman corrupted by the essence of the Joker. Accompanying him is a host of alternate universe Batmen who have taken dark and twisted paths.
To counter this threat, you'll need to assemble teams that include heroes like Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman alongside their arch-nemeses. With 50 iconic characters available at launch and a planned roster of 200, you'll have plenty of options to create your dream team (or nightmare squad).
Beyond the Batcave
Every resistance needs a base of operations, and in DC: Dark Legion, you can upgrade and expand your own Batcave. From there, you can deploy your customizable team of heroes and villains into battle against the forces of The Batman Who Laughs or other players in PvP combat.
While DC: Dark Legion appears to be a polished and well-designed addition to the genre, it's hard not to recall Invincible: Guarding the Globe, another polished release that seemed to fade into obscurity. This raises the question of whether fans are truly eager for these types of pseudo-strategy games, especially following the success of the hero shooter Marvel Rivals on PC.
