Akupara Games and Tmesis Studio's latest adventure game, Universe for Sale, is now available. Akupara Games has already released several intriguing titles this year, including The Darkside Detective series and Zoeti.
Is the Universe Actually for Sale?
The game unfolds on a bizarre space station orbiting Jupiter, a location shrouded in acid rain and mystery. Here, witty orangutans manage the docks, and cultists barter flesh for enlightenment.
The universe itself is for sale, thanks to Lila, a woman with the remarkable ability to create universes from her hand.
The game begins in the ramshackle mining colony shantytown. You play as the Master, a skeletal cultist from the Cult of Detachment—a character both unsettling and captivating.
Exploring the dilapidated colony, filled with quirky tea shops and other strange establishments, you eventually discover Honin's Tea House, Lila's shop. Lila's enigmatic nature unfolds gradually as you shift between her perspective and the Master's throughout the game.
Playing as Lila involves creating universes in a captivating mini-game, mixing and matching ingredients to generate mesmerizing visual worlds. Meanwhile, the Master's journey delves into the philosophies of the Cult of Detachment and encounters with the Church of Many Gods.
The narrative unfolds gradually, prompting players to speculate about the underlying events. Each character, be it human, skeletal, or robotic, possesses a unique story, and the richly detailed world invites exploration.
