Blizzard Fails to Extend Diablo 3 Event

Diablo 3's beloved "Fall of Tristram" event is set to conclude on February 1, yet many fans are clamoring for its extension. However, community manager pezradar has dashed these hopes, stating that the event's hard-coded nature makes it impossible to extend through server-side adjustments.

Pezradar also addressed the delay of Season 34 of Call of Light, which has disrupted weekend plans for some players. He expressed regret over the situation, explaining that the team received late notice and needed to adjust the schedule. The delay is necessary to develop new code for a seamless transition between seasons, following issues with the automatic scheduler that prematurely ended the previous season. This additional time will be used to implement and test the new code, ensuring a smooth transfer of player progress. Pezradar acknowledged the need for better communication with players in the future, a point the team is taking seriously.

In other news, Wolcen Studio has introduced Project Pantheon, a free-to-play combat role-playing game that incorporates extraction shooter mechanics. The first closed alpha test will commence on January 25 for European players, with North American players joining on February 1. Game director Andrei Cirkulete described the game as a fusion of the tension and risk-reward elements of extraction shooters with the dynamic combat of role-playing games, drawing inspiration from titles like Diablo and Escape from Tarkov. Players will assume the role of a messenger of Death, tasked with restoring order to a ravaged world. The studio is keen to gather feedback from the community during this testing phase.
