Treyarch is celebrating 115 Day with an exciting mystery box full of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the unveiling of a new map called The Tomb. This January 15 celebration is a special holiday for Call of Duty players, featuring a comprehensive blog breakdown of all the zombie-themed surprises in store. The highlight of today's announcements is the introduction of The Tomb, a new Zombies map set in a sandy environment, set to debut with the launch of Season 2 on January 28. This means fans have less than two weeks to wait for another thrilling addition to the Zombies universe, following Season 1's Citadelle des Morts.

According to Treyarch, the story of The Tomb follows the survivors of Citadelle des Morts—Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya—as they heed Gabriel Krafft’s final words to secure the Sentinel Artifact at a nearby excavation site. This site, built on ancient burial grounds dating back to 2500 B.C.E., has remained undisturbed until the early 1900s, and what lies beneath may be more profound than anyone ever imagined.

The team described The Tomb as a mysterious area with ties to a British archeologist named Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, but they've kept further connections to the larger Zombies narrative under wraps. In terms of gameplay, The Tomb promises an experience akin to Liberty Falls, the vibrant, small-town map introduced with Black Ops 6 in October. This new location will offer tighter play spaces with a focus on replayability, as players uncover the numerous Easter eggs hidden within.

Treyarch also teased a reimagined Wonder Weapon inspired by the past and the return of an iconic SMG, though details on these remain scarce. Season 2 is also set to bring a host of quality-of-life improvements, including new features long requested by the community. Players will be able to track up to 10 Calling Card and 10 Camo challenges in both Zombies and Multiplayer. Zombies will also feature a co-op pause option, allowing the party leader to pause a match mid-run. Additionally, HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer will be separated, and players will be able to rejoin Zombies matches with their loadout if disconnected.

To celebrate 115 Day, Black Ops 6 players can enjoy double the GobbleGum earn rate, as well as double player, weapon, and battle pass XP from now until 10am PT on January 21. Treyarch also shared some impressive stats related to the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing that players have collectively spent over 480 million hours in Black Ops 6 Zombies.

"Our goal from the start for Directed Mode was simple: grow the Zombies community by guiding new players through the Main Quests with some guardrails in place, so they can experience the storyline and hopefully become lifelong Zombies fans," the team stated. "The numbers are promising! Since Directed Mode went live, our average Main Quest completion rate has more than doubled, going from 3.38% on November 14 to 8.23% today."

Fans are eager to hear the voices of the Zombies characters when The Tomb launches. Last month, Activision announced that some beloved Zombies characters were recast due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
