Beginner's Guide to Mastering Rune Slayer

by Harper Apr 28,2025

After two failed launches and months of anticipation, *Rune Slayer* has finally arrived, and it's nothing short of spectacular. Whether you're new to MMORPGs or a seasoned veteran, diving into *Rune Slayer* can feel overwhelming at first. Don't worry, we've put together a comprehensive guide to help you kickstart your adventure in this exciting new world.

Rune Slayer Beginner Tips

Here are some crucial tips we wish we had known from the start to make your journey smoother and more enjoyable.

Do Not Randomly Attack Other Players

When *Rune Slayer* announced full-loot PvP, many of us feared a chaotic battleground. However, our fears were largely unfounded. **In *Rune Slayer*, dying doesn't mean losing everything**, even if it's at the hands of another player. You simply respawn and continue your journey.

However, **attacking other players comes with consequences**. Each kill increases your bounty, and the higher your bounty, the more items you'll drop upon death. So, to avoid turning the game into a full-loot PvP scenario, **refrain from attacking others** unless you have a solid reason or a group to support you.

Craft Bags ASAP

You'll quickly realize that both your bank and inventory spaces are limited. With only 50 item slots, your inventory can fill up fast. To address this, **craft bags as soon as possible**. You can equip up to two bags, starting with the **Cotton Bag**.

Obtain Cotton from the north of Wayshire and Flax from the south, though be cautious of the mobs in the southern area. Each Cotton Bag adds 10 extra slots, so prioritize crafting these to manage your inventory better.

Your Pets Don’t Actually Die

It's a common misconception that when your tamed pets reach zero health, they die permanently. In reality, **your pet can't be summoned for 5 minutes** after "dying". You can check the cooldown by holding T. Once the time is up, hold T again to summon your pet back into action.

Pro Tip: To quickly **heal your pet**, store and unstore it at the stable master using your free slot.

Grab All the Quests (Yes, All of Them)

*Rune Slayer* is packed with numerous quests, most of which are non-repeatable and quite similar to the typical "Kill 10 X" quests found in many MMORPGs. To streamline your progress, **accept every quest you encounter**, including those from the Job board.

Completing multiple quests simultaneously is far more efficient than tackling them one by one. You might even find opportunities to complete multiple quests at once, making your journey more rewarding.

Craft Everything at Least Once (Even Things You Don’t Need)

While prioritizing what you need is essential, **use any spare materials to craft items you might not immediately need**. Crafting new items often **unlocks more advanced recipes**. For example, smelting your first Iron Ore can unlock a range of new Iron Armor crafts. So, don't hesitate to experiment with your materials.

Join a Guild

*Rune Slayer* is designed to be solo-friendly, but as you delve deeper, you'll encounter **tougher enemies** that are better tackled with a group. Joining a guild is the easiest way to find like-minded players to take on these challenges.

Whether you shout in general chat for a guild or join one through the official *Rune Slayer* Discord server, having a team can make all the difference in your adventures.

And that's all you need to get started. Enjoy your time in *Rune Slayer*, and if you're yet to begin, be sure to check out the *Rune Slayer* Trello and Discord for more tips and community support.
