Encountering Golden Hands in Persona 4 Golden is a common occurrence within dungeons, whether they ambush you in the open or spring from unsuspecting chests. These formidable foes grow progressively stronger in each dungeon, consistently posing a significant challenge.
Despite their difficulty, defeating Golden Hands yields substantial experience points (XP), making the effort worthwhile. Happiness Hands, the Golden Hands variant found in Yukiko's Castle, are particularly tough early in the game. This guide details effective strategies for overcoming them.
Happiness Hand Affinities in Persona 4 Golden
Happiness Hands exhibit strong resistance to all elemental attacks.
The key to defeating Happiness Hands lies in exploiting their vulnerability to physical attacks. While Almighty attacks are typically effective against Golden Hands, this option is unavailable early in the game. Happiness Hands inflict minimal damage and may even remain idle during their turns, but they will flee if given the opportunity.
A weakness exploit or critical hit will trigger their escape. When facing multiple Happiness Hands, prioritize focusing on a single target, as defeating even one before they flee is a significant accomplishment at this stage.
Strategies for Defeating Happiness Hands in Persona 4 Golden
The most effective strategy involves fusing the Orobas Persona, which possesses the Hysterical Slap skill. This skill not only strikes twice but also has a small chance of inflicting the Rage status effect. A Raged Happiness Hand will continuously use its basic attack, preventing its escape. Orobas can be fused using the following Persona combinations:
- Apsaras + Forneus
- Apsaras + Slime
Before engaging a Happiness Hand, ensure your party is fully healed. Concentrate solely on physical attacks that consume HP, avoiding any other actions. Have Yosuke use Sonic Punch, Chie use Skull Cracker, and the Protagonist utilize Hysterical Slap, repeating this cycle until victory. Success largely depends on luck due to limited early-game options, but defeating even one Happiness Hand provides a significant experience boost.
Crucially, avoid using an All-Out Attack unless you are certain of a kill; otherwise, the Happiness Hand will recover and flee.
