The Kiwanis Club of New Kingston (KCNK) has introduced an exciting spelling app called the KCNK Little Bee Game, perfect for kids aged 4 to 9. Sponsored by Grace Kennedy Money Services (GKMS) and Western Union (WU), this app is designed to make spelling fun and educational.
You can enjoy the KCNK Little Bee Game anywhere, even without an internet connection. It features three engaging modes: Learning Mode 1, Learning Mode 2, and Competition Mode, each with 10 levels. As you progress, the words get longer and more challenging, with each level offering 15 or more words to master. The words remain the same across all modes for consistency.
In the Settings, students can input their name, age, parish, and school. They can then choose their preferred mode to start learning.
Learning Mode 1 helps kids learn spelling by tapping letters from left to right. The app pronounces each letter, allowing children to follow along. If a mistake is made, it can be easily corrected by tapping on the error. To hear the word again, just tap the little bee icon at the top left. To advance, students must spell each word correctly, completing all words to finish a level. They can retry any level at any time, but must complete earlier levels before moving to later ones.
Learning Mode 2 challenges students with jumbled letters. They need to rearrange them to spell the word correctly. Mistakes can be undone by tapping on them, and the word can be replayed by tapping the little bee icon. Like Mode 1, students must correctly spell each word to progress and complete all words in a level before moving on.
Competition Mode adds an exciting twist. Students face jumbled letters with extra ones thrown in, and they're timed for each word. They get 10 random words per level and should aim to complete levels as quickly as possible. The leaderboard on the main page tracks their times, and they can reset the game from the Settings if needed.
Remember to wait until a letter is fully pronounced before selecting the next one. Students and parents can capture the leaderboard and share it with teachers.
