Split APKs – what's that all about?
Back in 2018 at Google I/O, Google introduced a new delivery system called App Bundles. This format changes how apps are distributed by allowing developers to upload a single bundle instead of managing multiple APK variants manually.

Before App Bundles, developers had to either create one large APK containing all possible assets (which could be massive) or manage several different APKs tailored to specific devices (like arm64 320dpi, x86 640dpi, etc.).
With App Bundles, Google takes over the job of splitting the app into smaller parts. The result? A base APK plus one or more split APKs—like arm64.split.apk, 320dpi.split.apk, or language-specific splits such as en-us.lang.split.apk.
The problem arises when trying to install these on your own: tapping each split file won’t work, and installing only the base APK often leads to crashes due to missing resources.
That’s where [ttpp] comes in.
So, what exactly are .apkm files?
As more apps shift toward the split APK model, sharing and installing them becomes increasingly difficult without a supporting tool. To address this, APKMirror developed the .apkm format—a convenient container that packages the base APK along with all necessary split APKs into a single file.
Once you’ve downloaded an .apkm file and have APKMirror Installer installed, simply tap the file or use the app to locate it in your downloads. You'll be able to view the contents of the .apkm package and selectively install only the splits you need, helping you save valuable storage space on your device.

Common issues and troubleshooting
Xiaomi/Redmi/Poco MIUI users
Unfortunately, Xiaomi has customized MIUI in a way that interferes with APKMirror Installer’s ability to install split APKs properly.
There is a known workaround: disable MIUI optimizations in your developer settings. Once done, try the installation again—this should resolve the issue in most cases.
