The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel: Northern War's story unfolds in Northumbria, nestled in Zemuria's northwest. The narrative bridges the gap between Trails of Cold Steel II and Trails of Cold Steel III, told from the perspective of Lavi, a Jager of the North from the TV anime.
Year 1205 of the Seventh Calendar. Lavi, raised in Northumbria, joins the Jagers to protect her homeland and distance herself from her grandfather's legacy—a once-heroic figure who betrayed his people. While diligently carrying out her missions (often bending the rules), Lavi is unexpectedly tasked with a perilous spy mission into the Erebonia Empire alongside fellow Jagers Marty, Iselia, and Talion. Their objective: uncover information about the "Hero of the Empire," a mysterious threat to Northumbria.
