Description
Maximize your word count to win! Squares is a daily word puzzle and strategy game where the objective is to complete squares on a grid to form words.
Gameplay: Connect letters in any direction—up, down, left, right, or diagonally—to create words. Your goal is to uncover all the words hidden within the letter grid and achieve the highest possible score.
Game Rules:
- Scoring: Earn one point for each letter in a valid word (e.g., a five-letter word earns five points).
- Word Length: Words must contain at least four letters.
- Letter Usage: Each tile can only be used once per word.
- Invalid Words: Words with hyphens, proper nouns, offensive language, or uncommon terms are excluded.
Bonus Features:
- Bonus Words: Discover obscure, archaic, or slang terms. These words don't contribute to your score but appear in a separate bonus word list. The hunt continues even after finding all main words (post-game).
- Word of the Day: Each puzzle features a special, often longer bonus word. Solving it unlocks two extra hints!
Game Mechanics:
- Daily Puzzle: A new Squares puzzle is available daily at midnight.
- Grid Rotation: Rotate the grid left or right (using the buttons in the bottom right corner) for a fresh perspective to aid your word search.
- Letter Hints: After finding 40% of the words, a hint is provided: a number next to each letter indicates how many words begin with that letter. The absence of a number means no words start with that letter. An orange letter signifies it's no longer used in the main words but might appear in bonus words.
- Hints System: Each puzzle offers 3-5 hints (lightbulb icon). Using a hint reveals the first letter of a random word and its search direction. The number of hints depends on puzzle difficulty. Sharing the game link with friends grants one extra hint!
