An innovative app leverages AI and sensor data to enhance walking skills in visually impaired children. Developed in partnership with Safe Toddles, a non-profit dedicated to improving mobility and orientation for visually impaired kids (https://www.safetoddles.org), the app provides structured lessons centered around the Pediatric Belt Cane—a Safe Toddles product.
Children participate in interactive lessons, complete associated activities, and provide feedback via assessment questionnaires. A wearable IMU sensor attached to the cane transmits data to the app, where an AI module analyzes it to assess the child's developmental walking age.
This assessment informs the app's lesson recommendations, dynamically tailoring the learning experience to each child's unique needs and progress. The app's adaptive approach ensures personalized instruction, maximizing the effectiveness of the training.
