Avowed: A Solo Fantasy Adventure – No Multiplayer Here
Avowed has been compared to both Skyrim and Obsidian's own The Outer Worlds, but one key difference sets it apart: it's a strictly single-player experience. Despite initial plans, Avowed does not offer multiplayer functionality, eliminating any hopes for co-op or PvP modes. While you'll encounter companions throughout your journey, they remain non-player characters (NPCs), mirroring the structure of The Outer Worlds. Similarly, all enemies are AI-controlled, with no player invasion mechanics.
The Absence of Multiplayer: A Development Decision
The omission of multiplayer wasn't always the plan. Obsidian Entertainment initially envisioned Avowed with co-op capabilities, even using it as a marketing point. However, during development, the decision was made to cut multiplayer, citing a need to focus resources elsewhere. While this might disappoint some, the resulting single-player experience remains the core focus.
No Co-op Mod (Yet)
Currently, no official or community-created co-op mods exist for Avowed. While the possibility remains, creating such a mod would be a significant undertaking. Furthermore, Obsidian has confirmed they have no plans to add multiplayer functionality post-launch.
In short: Avowed is a solo adventure. Enjoy the immersive fantasy world, but prepare to tackle it alone.
